- Typical Installations -
The SkyBeam uses a microwave radio and a special antenna to connect your computer(s) to the Internet. The antenna is mounted either inside or outside your building, depending on your distance from our transmitters and/or your building's location and construction.

The exact type, size, and height of the antenna needed for your particular installation will be determined during our free, no obligation, signal survey.

Some wireless providers are ashamed of their prices, and are known to use the old bait and switch technique; They quote you a low installation price, then after the installation, present you with a bill for three or four hundred dollars more.

We Don't Play That Game!

Our installation prices are all right here! Other than the possible need for a higher than normal antenna mounting, (see #5, 6 & 7 below), your installation will not cost you a penny more than what we quote you.

The following examples represent some of our more common installations:

Installation #1
Some of our customers are lucky enough to be located near one of our towers, and have a window facing our transmitting antenna.

If you are one of these lucky folks you will have a small antenna, (About ten inches square), located in the window and connected to your computer.

Obviously, this is our simplest installation and should require less than a half hour to complete.

Additional Costs: None!

Installation #2
This is our most common installation.

A small arm is used to mount the 10-inch antenna on the eve of your home or office. The antenna is then pointed towards our transmitting tower.

A small cable (0.25-inches in diameter) is run from the antenna, through the wall and to your computer.

This installation usually requires about one, to one and a half hours to complete.

Additional Costs: None!

Installation #3
This and Installation #4 are our second most common installations. A mast, one and a half inches in diameter and from 15 to 20 feet tall, is attached to the side of your building and our larger, (18 by 34-inch) dish antenna, is attached to the top. The antenna is then pointed towards our transmitting tower.
Additional charge: $39.00
For the larger antenna and taller mast.
A small cable (0.25-inches in diameter) is run down from the antenna, through the wall and to your computer.

This installation usually requires from one to two hours to complete.

Installation #4
Depending on your distance from our transmitting antenna or obstructions or trees between the antennas, we may need to elevate your antenna for you to receive a proper signal.

A small 3-foot tripod and 8 to 10-foot mast is attached to the top of your building and either our larger, (18 by 34-inch) dish antenna, is attached to the top. The antenna is then pointed towards our transmitting tower.

Additional charge: $49.00
For the larger antenna, mast & tripod.
A small cable (0.25-inches in diameter) is run down from the antenna, through the wall and to your computer.

This installation usually requires from one to two hours to complete.

Installation #5
If you are located many miles from one of our transmitting towers, or there are tall trees or buildings between you and our transmitter, you may need a taller antenna installation.

Distance, hills, trees and tall buildings can pose a significant problem for our signal. We have customers as far as 14-miles from our transmitting towers. This challenge can usually be overcome with our larger dish antenna high above the roof, and either our twenty or thirty foot high mast.

This installation can require several hours to complete.

Additional Costs:
Twenty Foot Mast $79   Thirty Foot Mast $129
in addition to the standard price.

Installation #6
Some customers who are very far from one of our repeater sites and/or have tall trees, or other obstructions between them and our transmitter, may require a taller than normal mast in order to receive an acceptable signal.

A fifty foot mast and four guy-line anchors will need to be placed within 50 to 100 feet of your building to insure you get a quality signal from our transmitters.

Vehicle access to the mast location will be required in order to properly erect and secure the mast.

This installation can require more than one day to complete.

Additional Costs: Will be Quoted in addition to the standard price.

Installation #7
Customers very far from one of our repeater sites that also need to place our mast farther from their house or computer may require this type of installation.

Mast can be mounted up to 300 feet from your building.

After our free signal survey has determined that our signal is available, the customer will be expected to have the trench prepared, or plan an overhead way to get cables from the equipment-box to the building, before we begin the installation.

Vehicle access to the mast location will be required in order to properly erect and secure the mast.

Higher Than Fifty Feet?
Other Special Needs?
If your needs require a higher than 50-ft mast and/or farther from building installation, this can be accomplished for additional fees.

If you have an existing tall structure on your property such as TV tower, silo, tall barn etc, we usually can make use of these existing structures.

Call us and we can usually accommodate nearly any need or request.

This installation can require more than one day to complete.

Additional Costs: Will be Quoted in addition to the standard price.

Multiple Computers
If you have more than one desktop (wired) computer, we can connect them all together and to the Internet, with the addition of a Hub/Switch and additional cabling.

Additional Costs: Hub/Switch $29. Cable: 25-cents P/Foot.
                        Additional labor may apply for
                        complex in-building wiring.

Wireless Computers
If you have only a wireless notebook computer, or a desktop (wired) computer and one or more wireless notebook computers, we can connect them all together and to the Internet, with the addition of a Wireless Router.

Additional Costs: Wireless Router $79.
If you have your own wireless router,
we can install it for you for $25.

Most standard wireless routers will work with
The SkyBeam. Such as:
Linksys
Dlink
Netgear
Trident
And many others…

One exception is old DSL routers. If you have an old DSL or ADSL router, it probably will not work on our system.

All small wireless routers have a limited range. Depending on the construction of your building, (aluminum-backed insulation in the walls or metal siding), may limit your wireless notebook’s range from the router. You can expect to be able to roam from 50 to 200 feet from the wireless router.
